Electrical contractor software with job costing built in

Electrical work runs from one-hour service calls to multi-day panel, generator and EV charger jobs. FieldCX handles both: permits and readings on the visit, partial invoices on long jobs, and every breaker and foot of wire reconciled to the invoice and posted to your books.

In daily production at an electrical contractor in north Georgia.

Where electrical jobs lose money

Four leaks on electrical jobs

On electrical work the money usually goes missing in materials and in time: wire that never reached the invoice, and long jobs billed weeks after the work started.

Wire and breakers not billed

A panel job uses more wire and two more breakers than the estimate, and the invoice goes out at the estimate. In FieldCX, materials planned and materials used are tracked for each work order, so the difference shows before the job closes.

Long jobs billed at the end

A three-day job is invoiced after day three, and the cash arrives a month later. In FieldCX, technicians pause with percent complete and you can raise a partial invoice at each pause.

Permit details lost

The permit number and load readings are in a technician's notebook. In FieldCX, the closeout checklist requires them, and the job can't be submitted to dispatch until they're entered.

Commission on revenue, not profit

A job with heavy materials pays the same commission as a profitable one. In FieldCX, commission is worked out on revenue less materials actually used and helper labor, and held until the customer pays.

Closeout

Permits, readings and photos before the job closes

Set different checks for a service call, a panel replacement and an EV charger install. The technician sees exactly what's left, and dispatch sees a complete job.

Questions

Electrical contractor software questions

Does FieldCX handle permits and inspections?

FieldCX records the permit number, readings and inspection details on the visit through the closeout checklist, so the job can't be submitted without them. It doesn't apply for permits with your jurisdiction.

How does FieldCX handle multi-day jobs?

Technicians pause a job with its percent complete and pick it up on the next visit. You can raise a partial invoice at each pause, so a long job doesn't wait until the end to be billed.

How is contractor sales tax on materials handled?

Tax can be charged when materials are used, classified per contract, with county and city jurisdictions. Tax rules are set up for your state during implementation, and your accountant should review your settings.

Is FieldCX used by electrical contractors today?

Yes. FieldCX is in daily production at an electrical contractor in north Georgia, which moved 14 years of history across from Aptora Total Office Manager.

What does FieldCX cost for an electrical contractor?

US$129 per technician per month and US$99 per month for every other user, such as dispatchers, CSRs, helpers and stores staff. Implementation is a one-time charge quoted for your setup. Prices exclude taxes.

Notes

1. Axon AI by LogsNX commentary is a starting point for your technician to check. It doesn't replace an inspection by a qualified electrician.

2. Tax rules are set up for your state and jurisdictions during implementation. Your accountant should review your tax settings.

3. Leads arrive from providers that can send them to FieldCX; each connection is set up during implementation and depends on the provider. Calls need a RingCentral account.
